“Among the many blessings that God has showered upon us in Christ is the blessing of marriage, a gift bestowed by the Creator from the creation of the human race…
It is a source of blessing to the couple, to their families, and to society and includes the wondrous gift of co-creating human life.
Indeed, as Pope John Paul II never tired of reminding us, the future of humanity depends on marriage and the family.”
– U.S. Catholic Bishops, Pastoral Letter: Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan
“The entire Christian life bears the mark of the spousal love of Christ and the Church. Already Baptism, the entry into the People of God, is a nuptial mystery; it is so to speak the nuptial bathwhich precedes the wedding feast, the Eucharist. Christian marriage in its turn becomes an efficacious sign, the sacrament of the covenant of Christ and the Church. Since it signifies and communicates grace, marriage between baptized persons is a true sacrament of the New Covenant.” (CCC 1617)
Congratulations on your engagement!
We pray that you will find this to be a time of grace as you prepare to celebrate your love in the sacrament of marriage. We look forward assisting you, particularly as you reflect on the sacramental character of marriage in light of your own relationship.
Marriage is the unique sacrament where you and your spouse make the complete and irrevocable gift of yourselves to one another. Therefore, this process is intended to prepare you to make this gift. Because of the natural extensiveness of this preparation, it is recommended that you allocate no less than six months for this process but nine months or more is preferable.
Please contact the Parish Office to start the preparation process.
